Mynt loses its late license

By chocobo_crossing | Filed in LGBT Announcements, LGBT News

Belfast City Council has chosen not to renew Mynt’s late alcohol license when it was up for renewal during last week. The council made its decision after police objected to Mynt’s application, based on allegations of customer drug use, assaults occurring and alcohol served out of hours.

Whilst it is certainly true that for a while Mynt got a bad rep due to many police raids searching for drugs. It is unclear whether these raids turned up anything to note more than I imagine you would find in any Belfast club.

A council statement given to the BBC said the licensing committee “took the view that in light of the available evidence, the applicant was unfit to hold a licence”.

A spokeswoman for Mynt said that whilst they are extremely disappointed with the decision, they will be appealing the decision and that since an appeal is pending, the club can continue to trade with its current license in the meantime.

Peace, out!

Lady Gaga ft Beyonce ‘Telephone’

By twilightpixxie | Filed in Music Reviews

OK, so after seeing Lady Gaga in concert I was looking forward to seeing her latest video featuring Beyonce. I have to say it is in summary a good music video, all be it a little long, coming in at just under 10 minutes.

It shows Lady Gaga in prison (maybe for the murder she committed in her paparazzi video?). There is a comment from the prison wardens about her lack of ‘penis’ and after a few more shots and a phone call from Beyonce the song begins (3 minutes into the video).  It then shows Beyonce bailing out Lady Gaga and then they pull up to a typical American diner, where Beyonce places poison in a guys coffee. After that it shows Lady Gaga poisoning his food, and the food of everyone in the diner. After they all die the duo dance and then run off in the ‘pussy wagon’.

There are several adverts in the video for Virgin Mobile, plentyoffish.com and Coca Cola. However the story of the video is actually quite good and entertaining.

Maybe there is some truth behind Lady Gaga’s bankruptcy rumour, as most of her costumes in the video are recycled from her current tour.

You can check the video out yourself on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ95z6ywcBY

So in conclusion, was the video worth the wait and hype? Well i think yes, although it could have been a bit shorter.
