Gay conversion therapy denounced on “House”, hit US tv show!
An episode of House (season 6 episode 19), aired on Monday in the US, with an interesting theme.
Those of you familiar with the show know the premise, the superdoc Gregory House gets a weird case, and he and his team try to solve the patient’s often confusing medical condition.
Spoilers follow.
This time, the patient is a man who collapsed at the altar, about to marry his wife. Nothing strange, but House thinks he is faking his symptoms. Turns out he isn’t, but the theme of the episode is thusly established, the theme of faking. It turns out, the guy has been lying to his wife, and had a three year relationship with a guy, before going to gay ‘conversion’ therapy, where he was preached at, prayed for, dosed with hormones and subjected to ECT (electro-convulsive therapy), which it is later revealed was to blame for bringing his symptoms to light.
Meanwhile, ’13′, one of House’s team members, is bisexual, and she is troubled by the patient. She believes he shouldn’t be trying to hide or change what he is, and that he will ruin his life by lying to his wife. No matter, because House deliberately sets her, the patient, and the ex in the same room to discuss any shared symptoms, where it becomes clear that the guy has some difficulties in bed with his wife ;) Patient – “Every guy gets it sometimes!!!” Ex-BF – “Uh… we never had that problem…”
It is a good episode, worth giving a look to sometime perhaps?
Peace, out!
