The GLYNI Team

The GLYNI TeamGLYNI is a peer-led organisation, and is part of the Cara-Friend group. Peer-led means that it is run by young people, for young people. When you come to GLYNI, you become part of that decision-making process. So, the GLYNI Team is all of our members, and all of our friends in other organisations!

The GLYNI TeamWe have a co-ordinator called Liam, who helps us with administration, and gives us some focus. Liam, once a group member himself, has devoted a lot of time and experience to GLYNI, and this shows through in all the things GLYNI has achieved and continues to achieve. Liam is backed up by the Cara-Friend group, which consists of two other LGBT groups, ‘Lesbian Line’ and ‘Gay Helpline’. These organisations act in tandem with GLYNI, supporting all demographics of the LGBT community.

Then we have the members of GLYNI – you! GLYNI members get as much or as little say in decisions as they like, although we encourage as many people to be involved as possible. Within that, we have established a small team of ‘volunteers’, who basically take on some extra duties to help out the organisations, and to support both Liam and the GLYNI members. These members take on roles such as opening up the building, facilitating session work, befriending, email support, and website work. However, they are by no means the only ones who help out with all these and more! We encourage all our members to help out with GLYNI, as there are many different types of people in GLYNI, and everyone is good at things. GLYNI encourages you to embrace those talents to help not just yourself, but others too! That’s the idea of peer-led, and we think it works pretty good!
