Staff

Liam Larmour - Regional Development Youth Officer

Liam has been in post since December 2008, and is responsible for running GLYNI. This includes development of programmes and activities, coordinating the volunteer team and representing the group on issues relating to LGBT Youth. Liam’s job also involves outreach work in other areas outside Belfast to provide support to young LGBT people through the development of their own youth groups.

Liam joined GLYNI when he was 20 years old and was responsible for setting up the first volunteer team. As a group facilitator he helped develop the peer-led ethos which forms the foundation for how GLYNI is operated today. He remained as a volunteer youth worker until his employment as Regional Developmnet Youth Officer.

He has been involved in many projects, research studies and campaigns over the years, representing issues facing LGBT Youth in a variety of arenas, including The ShOut research, Bill of Rights NI’s Children and Young People’s Working Group, OUTstanding Youth Work training programme, Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum and many others.

Liam has been involved in the LGBT Community for many years, volunteering with Belfast Pride, as well as working for The Rainbow Project before coming into Cara-Friend in a fulltime paid capacity. Currently, he co-faciliates the parents’ support group, Family Ties, a joint project between Cara-Friend and The Rainbow Project, which provides a peer support network to parents with LGBT children.
